It was such a lovely sunny day when we arrived for lunch and even though it was midweek we were lucky to get a table. There are a few indoor seats but most are outside under covered areas with extra benches in the 'Strawberry Field'. I chose the Pillars bean burger which came with a huge, colourful side salad and a ramekin of spiced chutney and my Mum decided to have the soup, mixed vegetable that day, and a hummus chutney toastie. The portions were generous, we especially liked the side salads which had a lovely mix of leaves and seeds for a tasty flavour combination. We didn't have time for cake but I noticed there was some yummy looking gingerbread sponge.
Pillars of Hercules cafe uses all organic ingredients and as much of their own grown salads and vegetables as possible. As well as their popular cafe they have a very well stocked shop with local produce and a fab selection of wholefoods, household products, spices, flours, drinks and chocolate!
